What is acupuncture?
Acupuncture treatment involves inserting very fine needles through the skin at specific points on the body, designed to stimulate the body's own healing processes. The needles stimulate the flow of QI or energy, which circulates in channels around the body. The aim of the treatment is to restore the body's systems to a state of balance.
What to expect at your acupuncture appointment
Treatment begins with an in-depth consultation at our clinic in Staines-upon-Thames, in which your practitioner will explore your symptoms, medical history and lifestyle. Needles are then inserted into specific points along your body's energy channels, known as meridians. Acupuncture doesn't usually cause any pain, although you may feel a slight tingling or dull ache when the needle is inserted.
